Students are challenged to share relevant life experiences and build "spiritual" critiques to help each other better apply scriptural themes to overcome adversity in similar situations. The recurring theme is GOD's plan for salvation and Spritual growth. The class is highly interactive and encouragess a "realistic" application and approach to the daily rigor a Christian faces in an unjust and sinful world.

Cornerstone

Target Audience: Cornerstone is an adult church school class.

Class Format: We utilize an informal setting that allows participants to freely and openly engage in open dialogue to enhance one's understanding of scripture. In an informal, yet structured environment, we create an opportunity for participants to enhance an understanding of the Bible and relate the lesson(s) to everyday life. We structure the class(s) around the topic(s), with background scripture and printed text scripture that direct the lesson (s) and devotional reading (s) that guide our discussions. The focus of the class is an adult learning environment that follows Urban Ministries Incorporated (UMI) Precepts for Living Commentary; covering some of the following (not limited to) lessons:
  • Who is Jesus
  • Gods Love
  • The Good News
  • Serving God
  • Overcoming Temptation
  • Humility
  • Resisting the Devil
  • Why God Allows Suffering
We pray, we read, we discuss and we fellowship in the Word of God. Please open the door to your heart and visit the Cornerstone Church School Class. ALL ARE WELCOME!

Maranatha

Target Audience: Adults desiring teaching through a myriad of creative methods

Class Format: Lecture/Discussion, drama, multimedia and other creative learning techniques

This class uses a variety of teaching techniques including lecture, class discussion and leadership, question-and-answer, drama and multimedia, to convey GOD's Word. The goal is to give real-life context for biblical lessons.

In 1 Corinthians 16:22, Paul proclaims, "Maranatha! Come, O Lord! It is an Aramaic word that means "Come, O Lord!" or "The Lord comes." Aramaic was the language generally spoken by the Jews in the time that Jesus lived on earth.

The verse qutoed above formed part of Paul's expectation that CHRISTS's second coming was near. It was one of the primary motives for a fervent Christian life. The Christians lived with constant expection that the Lord may return to establish the golden ages of eternity at any moment.

Young Adults

Target Audience: Adults ages 18-28

Class Format:Lecture/Discussion

This class focuses the scripture lesson with relevance to today's young adult. The instruction uses case studies, hypothetical and true, to expose Biblical principles that help the young adult contend with per pressure and societal/secular rhetoric. We want to equip our young adults so that they can read, understand and apply the Word to situations involving questions of morality and godliness.
