The Fruit of First Campaign is a low-impact evangelism effort using the random acts of kindness model to reach people.
FBCV members will be encouraged to engage in suggested random acts of kindness throughout the campaign, which kicks off with our ViVa Vienna presence! Members will distribute worship-invite cards when the member performs an act of kindness. Suggested activities will be provided each week.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
Many acts of kindness will flow from your daily walk — opening the door for someone, letting someone move ahead of you in line. But other acts will be intentional — you’ll seek out opportunities to be a blessing to someone else. You’ll find suggestions for these intentional acts of kindness in the bulletin each week of the campaign. Feel free to submit your ideas to be shared with the congregation. When the situation permits, you will give the recipient of your act of kindness a card inviting them to join you here at First.
– Pay for the coffee, toll or bus fare of someone behind you
– Check in on an elderly neighbor
– Take treats to the fire station
– Just smile!
You get the idea. Some acts might involve money, and there will be a small fund available for certain weekly challenges.
All around the church, you’ll see trees sprouting on the walls. When you have completed an act of kindness, you can place evidence of your ‘fruit’ on the tree! We should have an orchard by the end of summer!
