Rev. Dr. Kenny Smith

Reverend Doctor Kenny Smith was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He is married to Reverend Doctor Mary Lucille Steverson Smith and the father of two daughters, Donna and Christa.

Reverend Smith has a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) Degree from Virginia Union University, School of Theology (1992); a Master of Divinity Degree (MDiv) from Howard University (1987). He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha campus, in Business Management. (1977).

Recent awards include Omega Psi Phi Fraternity (Omicron Kappa Kappa) 2006 Citizen of the year award, the James F. Jenkins Pillars of Faith Award (2005), Outstanding Service Award, Fairfax County Branch, NAACP (2004), the Dean's Pastor's Award, Howard University School of Theology (1999), the Outstanding Achievement in Religion Award, Howard University Alumni Club of Northern Virginia (1999), the Religious Affairs Award, Fairfax County Branch, NAACP (1998), the Outstanding Leadership Award, Northern Virginia Baptist Association (1998), Community Service Award, Horizon Community Outreach Group (1996), the Golden Eagle Award, Fairfax County School System (1994), the Award of Merit presented by the Old Dominion Bar Association (1994), the 1992 Human Rights Award presented by the Fairfax County Human Rights Commission (1993),



the D. B. Barton Award in Pastoral Theology (1987), and the Joseph H. Jackson Award (1986) for Academic Excellence. He was selected for Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities (1986/1987).

He has traveled to eleven countries, including the Holy Land (Israel), visited the sites of all seven churches (located in Turkey) mentioned in Revelation, and toured the Isle of Patmos (Greece).

In June 2005, Reverend Smith was elected President of the Baptist General Convention of Virginia (over 1100 churches). He serves on the Board of the Baptist General Convention, Richmond, VA; He serves as adjunct professor at Howard University School of Divinity and as a visiting professor at Wesley Theological Seminary.

He is the former President of the Fairfax County Branch, NAACP and moderator of the Northern Virginia Baptist Association; serves on the first Baptist Church-Vienna Board of Directors Federal Credit Union; the Vienna Church Coalition for Housing; a former Board member Board of Directors, Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia; and a Trustee, Virginia Union University.

Currently, Reverend Smith is the Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Vienna, Virginia, and he walks with God.
